Kairouan (English: /ˌk(ʊ)ˈwn/, English: /kˈ-/), also spelled El Qayrawān or Kairwan (Arabic: ٱلْقَيْرَوَان Arabic: [æl qɑjrɑˈwæːn], ), is the capital of the Kairouan Governorate in Tunisia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
